Frequency of usage of selected social media platforms over time
The dataset documents how frequently sport-interested users in Germany employ seven social media platforms, comparing two measurement points: March 2022 and November 2025. Usage frequency is broken down into six categories, ranging from daily use to less than once a month.
TikTok records the largest shift in daily usage across the period: from 61% in 2022 to 71% in 2025. Instagram also moves upward, from 68% to 71% daily users. Facebook's daily share stays flat at 68% across both waves. YouTube daily usage rises from 52% to 56%, while the "several times a week" share declines slightly from 32% to 29%. Twitter's daily figure holds near-steady at 50% and 49%, but the "less than once a month" share rises from 1% to 3%. LinkedIn shows the sharpest redistribution within frequency tiers: the "once a week" category grows from 22% in 2022 to 31% in 2025, while the "several times a week" share falls from 37% to 26%.
