Weekly working time of people interested in sports by gender
The chart documents weekly working hours — including paid and unpaid overtime — among people interested in sports, broken down by gender. The comparison covers the total sports-interested group alongside female and male respondents separately (Germany, February 2023).
The 36-to-45-hour bracket dominates across all groups. Among male respondents, 75% fall into this range, compared to 49% among female respondents and 63% across the total sports-interested group. In the lower working-hour brackets, the gender gap runs in the opposite direction: 16% of female respondents work 16 to 25 hours per week, against only 4% of male respondents. The 26-to-35-hour bracket follows the same pattern — 24% female versus 11% male. Extended working hours above 45 hours per week remain a small segment overall: 7% of male respondents and 3% of female respondents work 46 to 55 hours, while over 55 hours accounts for 1% or less across all groups.
