Six messages
01Pricier than Netflix
In every one of the seven markets the median flexible sports subscription costs more than Netflix Standard – from 1.2 times in Germany to 2.0 times in Spain.
02Harder to leave
The right to cancel monthly costs a median 45.6 per cent extra; Disney+ and Amazon Prime charge 20.0 per cent. Sport prices the exit right product by product, from 19.2 to 173.0 per cent.
03Access costs more than content
The documented route for a football fan costs 2.4 to 4.1 times a year of Netflix, because league and European competitions sit with different operators.
04No anchor sport in one place
Only in France is the domestic top flight sold live through a single partner; in Germany the league alone has three live partners.
05Openness is a design choice
In Switzerland and Austria every sports brand sells a pure sports subscription on its own; in Spain only 25 per cent do.
06The structure is about to change
38 per cent of dated competition-partner contracts end by 2027. The market this study documents is the starting line of the next cycle.
