Association of social topics with german soccer
The table documents which social topics respondents in Germany associate with German soccer, surveyed in June 2026. Three groups are compared: people with a general interest in sports, people with a specific interest in soccer, and individuals currently volunteering in a soccer club.
Integration of people with a migration background ranks as the most frequently cited topic across all three groups — at 38% among sports-interested respondents, 40% among soccer-interested respondents, and 41% among club volunteers. Volunteering support in amateur soccer follows closely at 37%, 39%, and 33% respectively. Inclusion for people with disabilities is cited by 31% of sports-interested and 33% of soccer-interested respondents, dropping to 26% among club volunteers. The strongest divergence between groups appears for resocialisation through soccer in correctional facilities: while 19% of sports-interested and 20% of soccer-interested respondents associate this topic with German soccer, the share among club volunteers reaches 48%.
