Diversity ranking of 2. Bundesliga clubs from the fans' perspective in the 2022/2023 season

The chart documents how soccer fans in Germany rank the 18 clubs of the 2. Bundesliga 2022/2023 season on the attribute of diversity. Respondents were asked which club best represents diversity for them, based on a preceding definition aligned with the Diversity Charter (February 2023).

FC St. Pauli leads the ranking by a wide margin, with 18.1% of respondents naming the Hamburg-based club. Hamburger SV follows in second place at 7.5% — less than half the St. Pauli figure. Fortuna Düsseldorf ranks third at 4.7%, and 1. FC Nürnberg fourth at 4.3%. The remaining 14 clubs all fall below 3.5%, with values ranging from 3.4% (Hannover 96 and F.C. Hansa Rostock) down to 1.0% for SV Sandhausen. A substantial share of respondents — 37.3% — stated they could not judge or did not know which club to name.
