Frequency of stadium visits among people interested in soccer in a country comparison

The chart documents how frequently soccer-interested respondents in Germany and England attend professional soccer matches in person. Attendance frequency is measured across four categories — from regular attendance to never — allowing a direct country comparison (survey date: December 2023).

The most pronounced difference between the two countries appears at the regular attendance end of the scale: 20% of English respondents attend more than five games per season, compared to 12% in Germany. At the other end, 33% of German respondents say they never attend matches in person — seven percentage points above the English figure of 26%. The occasional attendance bracket (approximately 2–4 games per season) is identical in both countries at 25%. Rare attendance (fewer than two games per season) is nearly equal as well, with 30% in Germany and 29% in England.
