Importance of the appearance of diverse people in sports campaigns

The chart documents the self-reported importance of diverse group representation — including women, transgender and non-binary people, Black Indigenous people of color, and people with disabilities — in sports campaigns, as rated by sports-interested respondents (survey date: February 2023).

Among respondents interested in sports, 39% rate the appearance of diverse groups in sports campaigns as "very important." A further 38% rate it as "rather important," bringing the combined approving share to 77%. At the other end of the scale, 12% say it is "rather not important" and 11% say it is "not at all important." The combined rejecting share thus amounts to 23%. The two positive response categories are nearly equal in size, with the "very important" share exceeding the "rather important" share by only one percentage point.
