Assessment of the contribution of sport to diversity in society
The chart documents how sports-interested respondents in a February 2023 survey assess whether sport does enough to promote diversity and variety in society. Responses are captured on a four-point scale ranging from "yes" to "no."
A combined 62% of sports-interested respondents give a positive assessment: 38% answer "rather yes" and 24% answer "yes." On the critical side, 30% say "rather no" and 8% say "no," putting the combined rejecting share at 38%. The "rather yes" category alone accounts for the largest single share across all four response options. The gap between "rather yes" (38%) and "rather no" (30%) is 8 percentage points. The outright rejecting share ("no") at 8% is the lowest recorded value across the four options, while the firm approving share ("yes") at 24% sits three times higher than that.
