Interest in American Football among fans of Bundesliga teams of the 2022/2023 season

The chart documents the share of fans interested in American football across all 18 Bundesliga clubs of the 2022/23 season. Fans of each club were asked about their interest in American football on an aided basis. The data were collected in Germany in July 2020.

VfL Bochum 1848 records the highest share at 34.8%, followed by 1. FSV Mainz 05 at 32.0% and TSG Hoffenheim at 31.1%. A broad middle cluster of clubs — from FC Augsburg through to Hertha Berlin — ranges between 29.0% and 30.4%. The bottom three clubs in the ranking are SV Werder Bremen at 24.9%, Borussia Dortmund at 25.8%, and RB Leipzig at 21.8%. The spread between the top-ranked and lowest-ranked club amounts to 13 percentage points. FC Bayern Munich, the most prominent club by market size, sits at 26.0%, placing it in the lower third of the ranking.
