Perception of racism in selected areas of life
The dataset documents how sports-interested people in Germany perceive racism across seven areas of life — social media, apartment search, school/university, job search/workplace, media, politics, and sports — at two points in time: February 2023 and June 2024.
Social media draws the highest combined concern across both waves. In February 2023, 67% of respondents indicate racism occurs there and constitutes a big or very big problem; in June 2024 this share stands at 65%. Sports records the lowest severity perception: only 45% place it in the top two problem categories in February 2023, dropping to 40% in June 2024. The share stating racism does (almost) not occur in sports rises from 15% to 20% over the same period. Job search and workplace show a consistent pattern: in June 2024, 51% see it as a big or very big problem, while those denying its occurrence rise from 7% to 16%.
