National distribution of sexual orientations among people interested in sports
The chart documents the self-described sexual orientation of people interested in sports. The distribution covers five categories — straight, gay, bisexual, other, and not sure — measured among sports-interested respondents in a 2023 survey.
The large majority of sports-interested respondents identify as straight, at 91,1%. The remaining share is distributed across non-straight orientations: 4,2% identify as gay, and 3,2% as bisexual. Together, gay and bisexual respondents account for roughly 7,4% of the sports-interested population surveyed. Those describing their orientation as "other" make up 1,1%, while 0,4% indicate they are not sure. The bisexual share sits slightly below the gay share, at 3,2% compared to 4,2%.
