Optimal price range for the purchase of a German national soccer team jersey
The chart documents the optimal price range for the German national soccer team jersey, based on a Van Westendorp Price Sensitivity Meter. Four price perception curves are plotted across a range from €5 to €150: "too cheap," "cheap," "expensive," and "too expensive" (Germany, October 2022).
The "too cheap" curve drops below 20% at €40 and falls to under 4% at €60. The "cheap" curve crosses below 50% between €40 and €50 — at €40 it stands at 55%, at €50 at 40%. The "expensive" curve crosses the 50% threshold at €50, where 48% of respondents already rate the jersey as expensive. At €80, this share rises to 84%. The "too expensive" curve reaches 50% at €70 and 88% at €100. At €60, 43% of respondents consider the jersey too expensive.
