Attitude and attractiveness of English event titles in German sport, using the example of ‘The Finals’
The dataset documents how sports-interested respondents in Germany perceive English or American-sounding event titles and which specific terms they find appealing or modern. Two dimensions are captured separately: the general attitude toward English-language event naming, and the attractiveness ratings of five concrete term options.
On the perception dimension, 45% of respondents rate the influence of English-language titles as neutral. A combined 38% respond positively — 28% rather positively and 10% very positively. The rejecting share totals 13%, split between 8% rather negative and 5% very negative.
Among the tested terms, "Finals" leads by a wide margin at 48%. "Challenge" follows at 35%. "Battle" and "Showdown" are rated equally at 25% each. "Ultimate" reaches 19%. Only 13% of respondents find none of the listed terms appealing.
