"First Choice" ranking when purchasing new insurance
The chart documents first-choice preferences among the German general population when seeking new insurance, listing 21 named providers by share of respondents. Data were collected in October 2023.
Allianz leads the ranking at 22%, followed by HUK-Coburg at 18%. Together, these two providers account for 40% of all first-choice mentions. Ergo ranks third at 9%, already at less than half the HUK-Coburg figure. R+V Versicherung follows at 6%, with Generali and DEVK each at 5%. A large cluster of providers — including Axa (4%), Debeka, CosmosDirekt, Gothaer, and Provinzial (each 3%) — occupies the mid-range. Twelve providers in the dataset sit at 2% or below. Hannover Rück and Nürnberger Versicherung record the lowest shares, each at 1%.
