Safety perception of stadium visitors at soccer matches in a country comparison (GER, ENG, USA, BRA, CHN)
The dataset documents self-reported safety perception among stadium visitors across five countries — Germany, England, the USA, Brazil, and China — surveyed in December 2023. Respondents assessed how safe they feel attending a football match at a stadium in their home country, with responses grouped into four categories.
The USA records the highest share of "very safe" responses at 58%, followed by England at 53%. Brazil stands at the opposite end: only 33% report feeling "very safe," and 7% say "not safe at all" — the highest across all five markets in that category. Germany and China both sit at 42% "very safe." China, however, leads in the "rather safe" category at 53%, while Germany follows at 50%. In Brazil, the combined share of negative safety responses reaches 19%, compared to 2% in England and 3% in the USA.
